Each instrument in the sculpture will be tuned to a pentatonic scale.  This grouping of notes, which comes from the musical traditions of many asian cultures, has many distinct advantages.  The biggest is that there is no note or combination of notes that clashes.  In other words there are no wrong notes!! 

This helps to improve the confidence of kids playing the instruments and helps them to immediately create beautiful music.  It also creates a strong harmonious connection between the different elements of the installation.  The goal is to produce only the most beautiful sonorities even when the player has no musical skill
